PERMITTING

Permits are required for production on all City property (streets, sidewalks, lots, facilities, and structures) and are coordinated through Film Schenectady.  All paperwork must be approved before filming can begin. 

INSURANCE

Productions are to provide a certificate of insurance (COI) prior to shooting showing at least $1 million for General Liability naming the City of Schenectady, 105 Jay Street, Schenectady NY 12305 as additionally insured.

PARKING

On-street parking of production vehicles must be approved prior to the shoot. The Schenectady Film Commission works closely with County and City officials to assist with all of your parking needs. 

CLOSURES, TRAFFIC CONTROL (ITC)

Road closures, detours and traffic requests must be coordinated through Film Schenectady. 

NOTIFICATION

The Production Company is responsible for notifying all business and residents affected by the filming activity.

SPECIAL EFFECTS

Permission for any special effects should be coordinated through the Schenectady Film Commission. These include scenes involving simulated gunfire, open flame, smoke, explosives, pyrotechnic and other extraordinary effects. 

DRONE FILMING

The drone operator is solely responsible for obtaining all authorizations as required from the FAA.  A copy of the drone operator's license, the drone certificate of registration, and certificate of insurance must be submitted.
