Schenectady County Skip the Stuff
Every year, billions of straws, utensils, napkins, condiment packets, and other throwaway items are added to our take-out and delivery orders—only to end up in the trash. By saying no to single-use plastics, we can save money, cut down on waste, and protect our planet. The “Skip the Stuff” program is a simple, voluntary initiative aimed at eliminating unnecessary plastic items from takeout and delivery orders. Join the movement to reduce waste and make a positive impact!
Here’s How to Get Started:
✅ Request Only
Make plasticware optional—only provide it when customers ask! Set the default to no plastic straws, stirrers, utensils, or individually packaged condiments unless requested.
✅ Bring Your Own
Encourage customers to bring their own cups or mugs to cut down on waste. Bonus idea: Reward eco-conscious customers with a small discount when they bring their own reusable cup!
✅ Reuse
For dine-in service, swap out disposable items for reusable plates, cups, and silverware. It’s a simple switch that makes a big difference.
